Sunspots AR3599 & AR3600
The wind was blowing over 30 knots today making it impossible to take pictures of the Sun with a telescope. So I just quickly took some pictures with my camera and lens fitted with a glass solar filter on a camera tripod, the high bush acted as a bit of a windbreak!
Images taken with a Canon 70D camera and 100-400mm lens with a 2x teleconverter attached making a focal length of 1280mm. There were 15 images captured with exposure time of 1/500th and ISO200, images stacked in RegiStax6 and processed in PS.
This is the same solar set-up that I’ll be taking to the Total Eclipse of the Sun on the 8th April 2024, we are travelling to the US to board a cruise ship and witnessing the event off the Mexican Coast near Mazatlan,

Using the movie live view feature helps you focus on the sunspot and position the Sun in the middle of the frame. For very quick shots of the Sun a camera tripod is perfect to use if your in a hurry, like I was today because of the weather.
