~ Oliver’s Space Academy LEGO SET: 41713 with an observatory and telescope Wow! ~
I really love this space set, it’s got everything for the budding young astronomer and it’s the first LEGO set that has an observatory and real astronomers doing there work…just awesome and out of this world!
Of course for me it was an easy build, but for an 8 year old they may need a little bit of adult help,
I’m sure that adult will have just as much fun with it as there child :-)

~ NASA Mars Rover Perseverance SPACE LEGO set no: 42158 ~
Yay! I managed to get this awesome model of the Mars Perseverance Rover and the little Ingenuity helicopter at the LEGO store at Dreamworld.
I’m so very pleased that LEGO has made this wonderful model of the Perseverance Rover to bring the excitement of looking for life on the planet Mars. The little Ingenuity helicopter is just a wonder of innovation of technology the way it was created. As of November 2023 it has now done over 55 flights…how Amazing is that!
To read more about this incredible mission to Mars please go to the NASA mission websites at: https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/
To get this excellent Rover LEGO model you’ll have to be quick as they usually sell out quite quickly, with this set I might just leave it in the box for now mainly because I really don’t have any more room in my house to set it up…but I’m so happy I’ve got it :-)

~ Tales of the Space Age SPACE LEGO Set No: 21340 ~
I just had to get this retro looking Space LEGO set; I love the bright colours and the post cards sized pieces are all inspired by space.
The creator of this set was Jan Wonzica and in his own words from the LEGO website:
“Outer space is awesome! I love exploring new worlds imagined by great creators.” Fan designer Jan Woźnica Creator of Ideas Tales of the Space Age
Turn off your thrusters and let your mind drift into space with this LEGO® Ideas Tales of the Space Age (21340) building set. It features 4 connectable brick-built 3D postcards, each depicting scenes inspired by 1980s sci-fi myths, films, books and posters.
Create cool minimalist LEGO brick representations of an observatory for viewing comets and shooting stars, a moon base and lunar eclipse, a shuttle blasting through space, and a black hole. Build together, display together.
This was a really nice build; I loved the way it came together with the coloured tiles. I could hang these 4 pieces separately on the wall but for now I think they look great joined together, anybody ready for lift off....

~ Qld Museum ’ Wonders of the World' LEGO Space Shuttle…Wow! ~
I nearly missed this exhibition because of all the COVID lockdowns but in the last few days of the exhibition on the 25th January, I grabbed my husband, got on the train and we were off to Brisbane to see the huge LEGO Space Shuttle and ISS.
You will have to hurry as the exhibition closes on the 30th January 2022.
There were lots of other amazing LEGO builds with the theme being ‘Wonders of the World’ but what I really went to see was an amazing build of NASA’s Space Shuttle Atlantic that took an incredible 167,891 LEGO bricks and took 775 hours to build!

~ Building Space LEGO while recovering from COVID-19 ~
January 2022
Having COVID was not much fun at all, but doing up my NASA Space LEGO sets while in isolation and recovery was lots of fun and so enjoyable. The details in these sets are just awesome and the Saturn V rocket stands at an incredible 1 metre tall!
Over the last few years I had collected these LEGO sets with the intention of never making them up, but I thought what the hell perhaps I had the patience after all to try to build one :-D
The first one I made up was the NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander (10266) Once I got started I really enjoyed putting the pieces together and seeing it be created, matter of fact, it was a relaxing and quite pleasurable and happy experience.
I’ll say now I’ve never made a LEGO set in my life, both of my sons use to build some of those amazing larger sets when they were young, but all I use to do was help clean up the pieces at pack up time.
The second LEGO set I started was the International Space Station (21321) This set was completely different to build than the Lunar Lander as it had so many smaller pieces for the solar panels. There is also a cute little space shuttle that goes with it.
It’s a beautiful display model of the ISS and quite large!
After I was all recovered and better, I just wanted to keep going decided to build the NASA Apollo Saturn V rocket (92176) this was mainly because I was really enjoying the experience of sitting down and creating these wonderful space models.
What’s a bit quirky about this model is that there are 1969 LEGO pieces; 1969 was the year that Apollo 11 launched the Saturn V rocket with the astronauts that landed on the Moon on the 29th July 1969.
This Saturn V model is huge at 1 metre tall and it’s built in three rocket stages corresponding to the rocket sections, now that’s very clever!
Late last year I brought the new Space LEGO piece NASA’s Space Shuttle Discovery (10283) For the time being it will stay in its box…I think I’m all spaced out at the moment, but I’ve really enjoyed making up the sets…. happy LEGO building everyone, Noeleen :-)
~ Please find some picture below in the gallery from the builds ~

~ NASA Apollo Saturn V Rocket SPACE LEGO Set No: 92176 ~
Wow this is one big LEGO set! When it was completed the rocket was over one meter high and it came in three pieces that fitted together. I really had a lot of fun building this but had to do it over a couple of days because it was quite complicated and fiddley.
You cannot see from the finished model but there is a lot going on inside the piece and at times it was quite tricky to put together, but I kept my wits about me and was so surprised that I finished it…Yay! You can see from the images that I took during the build how much work was inside the Lego piece.
I’ve had these three Space LEGO sets now for a while, but with being in locked down because of COVID this has spurred me on to sit down and have the confidence to put them together :-)

~ International Space Station (ISS) SPACE LEGO Set No: 21321 ~
I did the build from the 16th to the 19th January 2022.
First of all I want to say this is a big model of the ISS and I just love all the solar panels, it was a bit tricky to build with all the small pieces but once you get going and it starts to take shape and you start to really enjoy putting it together.
I also think that adding the small model of the Space Shuttle adds to the authenticity of the Space Station and brings you back to realise that this huge orbiting object that man has made orbits our earth every 90 minutes and has human beings living and working inside the station…awesome isn’t it!

This is the first LEGO set that I’ve ever brought for myself and I’m very excited to start building it, I’ve had the set for a little while but now that we are in lockdown because of COVID 19 I’ve decided to sit down and make it up.

It’s been many years since I built any Lego so I was really excited to sit down and make this wonderful set up.

Also, inside the box was a booklet that gave information about the NASA ladies featured, which were Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Margaret Hamilton and Nancy G Roman, which I found very interesting. Just like the guys us ladies are very smart too and NASA really did lead the way eventually in recognising the female roles in the space program.
If you have not seen the movie ‘Hidden Figures’ about the early years of NASA and the Apollo program then you must…it’s a revelation in what the human mind can accomplish no matter what nationality you are or whether you are a man or a woman.
