The orientation of the image is with the western limb on the right and with north to the top…the soft white markings near the western limb are associated with plage.
Plage is an area of activity associated with the magnetic field of the Sun and is usually seen around a sunspot area. I didn’t have time to set up my Lunt H-Alpha telescope, if I had more activity would have been see in this area….

Image taken with Canon 70D camera with a Canon 100-400mm lens and a 2x teleconverter lens attached, making the combined focal length 1250mm. Exposure was 1/800th second at f5.6 and ISO 160, camera set up on a static tripod, 10 images were stacked in Registax6 and processed in PS CS4.
